” Food Security: It’s Time to Act “

Canada is the world’s breadbasket – abundant in both farmland and wealth – and yet 4,000,000 Canadians and 1 in 6 children don’t have food security. It’s time to shine a brighter light on this national issue and spur innovation, policy solutions and broader collaboration.

Michael McCain, President and CEO of Maple Leaf Foods, discusses the daunting issue of food security and start a new conversation to address the challenge, including the launch of the new Maple Leaf Foods Centre for Action on Food Security.

Biography:
Michael H. McCain is President and Chief Executive Officer of Maple Leaf Foods, one of Canada’s flagship food companies. Born in Florenceville, New Brunswick, he has devoted his career to the food industry. He joined Maple Leaf Foods in 1995. Since then, he has been instrumental in establishing Maple Leaf as a destination of choice for top talent and leading the Company to overcome challenges that have tested the North American food industry and the Canadian manufacturing sector in particular. Mr. McCain serves as Honourary Chairman of the Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security.
