Ontario Building New High School for French-Language Students in Hamilton
Province Supporting Students with Better Learning Spaces
Hamilton, ON – Dec 13, 2016
Ontario is building a new French-language high school in Hamilton to support French-language education and provide new, modern learning facilities for local students.
Mitzie Hunter, Minister of Education, was joined by Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale MPP Ted McMeekin and Burlington MPP Eleanor McMahon at Hamilton City Hall today to make the announcement.
The new school, which is expected to open in 2018, will accommodate 800 secondary students in a modern, state-of-the-art facility. It will be jointly operated and occupied by the French-public and French-Catholic school boards that serve the Hamilton area: Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud.
Ontario is making the largest infrastructure investment in hospitals, schools, public transit, roads and bridges in the province’s history. To learn more about what’s happening in your community, go to Ontario.ca/BuildON.
