Suffice to say that the economics of being a social content creator in the current industry are broken. How do you reconcile being internet famous and broke? With so many of today’s major influencers struggling with revenue, how do we shift public perception away from the idea that branded content is inauthentic and “selling-out.” We will talk to leading experts in content, partnerships and digital marketing to create an open discussion about the major challenges, market trends and strategy behind shifting the collective thinking to bring marketing and digital together, without the stigma.

Rachel David is a Canadian Television Host and Youtube Creator. Born in Vancouver British Columbia, Rachel is most notably known for hosting the Canadian entertainment show Your World This Week for Rogers on Channel 1. Rachel has interviewed countless celebrities including The Rock, Daniel Radcliffe, Eva Longoria, Gerard Butler and Jake Gyllenhaal. Rachel David has worked for Shaw, CBC and was one of the co creators of Bestfan.com. Rachel currently collaborates with influential people on her personal Youtube channel (Youtube.com/RachelRDavid) where she plays creative games and challenges tailored to each individuals personalities.

Cathy Fernandes began her career in Media and Publishing as founder and managing director of two small enterprises. She contributed to shaping the industry itself; playing an integral part in the building and restructuring of multiple organizations during her time as Associate Publisher at Rogers Media, Vice President of National Sales & Digital Properties for Quebecor Media, and President & COO of Zoom Media.

In 2013, with her executive MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business and Executive Certification from Harvard Business School under her belt, Cathy announced the opening of her new Toronto-based media company – Jones Media – with founding partner, Erin McDougald. Jones provides clients with the most efficient media and content solutions across digital, social and emerging platforms. Through their premium network with access to 15.5M UVs, exclusive partnerships and strategic expertise, Jones ensures that every client is given a custom solution designed to deliver both their brand message and results.

, VP Business and Channel Strategy, Bell Media

As Vice-President, Business and Channel Strategy, Bell Media, Justin Stockman oversees channel-driven digital content, including Much Digital Studios, as well as the seamless execution of program priorities and developing new channel and business strategies for the company’s Conventional, Specialty, and Pay services. Prior to this, Stockman worked as Vice-President, Specialty Channels, where he oversaw all brands and day-to-day activities affecting Entertainment Specialty Channels Much, MTV, M3, E!, Bravo, Space, The Comedy Network, and their complimentary digital networks, as well as Pay channels TMN and HBO Canada. Stockman was previously Executive Director, Marketing, Specialty Channels, where he oversaw all brand-positioning, consumer and trade marketing, social media
marketing, and social media communities for Bell Media’s Specialty properties. Stockman has worked at Much for more than a decade in various capacities including creative services and production as creative director, supervising producer, producer, writer, editor, and web designer.
Dan James Dan James, Much Digital Studios Creator


Dan James, a proud Canadian currently living in Dallas, started making YouTube videos in early 2007. He recently launched his own humour and inspiration-filled channel, The Danocracy, which now has more than 270,000 subscribers. Dan’s how-to videos, including 6 Tips For Dealing With a Bully, and 6 Ways To Deal With Change, inspire youth in a fun, relatable way.
