Guelph, ON – Sep 15, 2017
Ontario is partnering with Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI) to invest in new technology and equipment at its Guelph facility, creating 125 jobs and retaining 225 positions.
Liz Sandals, MPP for Guelph, made the announcement today on behalf of Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development and Growth.
RWDI is a world-leading climate engineering, building performance and environmental engineering firm. It uses innovative engineering, scientific, computing and testing capabilities to help create safe, efficient buildings and infrastructure and comfortable, sustainable environments. It has provided wind engineering services for seven of the ten world’s tallest skyscrapers, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and One World Trade Center in New York City.
With support from Ontario’s Jobs and Prosperity Fund, the company is investing in new technology and equipment, including three wind tunnels and open channel water flume technologies. This will help the company establish one of the world’s most advanced centres for wind tunnel research and rapid prototyping and modelling. These investments will help RWDI better serve the growing global demand and ensure that it stays at the forefront of the industry.
Strengthening innovation in Ontario is part of our plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.
