Biography:
Lauren Gillett Clarke
Senior Client Solutions Manager, Government, LinkedIn
Lauren Gillett Clarke is a seasoned media professional with years of experience in publishing, digital advertising sales and operations. She has spent the last five years as LinkedIn, where she works as a Senior Client Solutions Manager, managing the Canadian government business for the Marketing Solutions group. Lauren also leads Families at LinkedIn Canada, an employee resource group focused on driving a sense of belonging for parents and families at the company.
Joseph Lo
Partner, Private Equity Value Creation, PwC Canada
Joseph is a partner in PwC’s Private Equity Value Creation practice where he works with investors and portfolio companies through all stages of the deal lifecycle, applying an operator’s lens to long term value generation for clients. For more than 20 years he has led transformative growth, turnaround and value creation initiatives in public and private company contexts as a CEO, an executive and a consultant. Most recently he was president and a board director of MOVATI Athletic, a U.S. private equity sponsored multi-site fitness business that entered new markets, launched new services, and grew substantially under his leadership.
His professional experiences have been developed in Canada and the United States in telecommunications, healthcare and retail. Previously he was CEO of Medisys, a national multi-site corporate healthcare provider. During his 10-year tenure at Bell Canada, he held executive roles in the company’s Small Medium Business and Field Operations business units. Joseph began his career at A.T. Kearney where he advised clients in the financial services, automotive and TMT sectors.
Active in the community, he currently serves on the boards of Canadian Club Toronto and the Harvard Business School Club of Toronto and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
Andrea Mandel-Campbell
Senior Vice-President, Capital Markets, NATIONAL Public Relations
Andrea is Senior Vice-President and Practice Lead, Capital Markets, at NATIONAL Public Relations. Andrea brings more than 20+ years of experience in financial and strategic communications, corporate reputation, crisis and issues management, media relations, and strategic counsel to senior leaders.
Andrea was previously Senior Vice-President with New York-based global CEO advisory firm, Teneo, and Vice-President of Corporate Communications at Kinross Gold Corporation. She former senior advisor to a federal cabinet minister, Andrea was also a correspondent for the Financial Times of London and BNN anchor. Andrea is author of the iconic Canadian business book, ‘Why Mexicans Don’t Drink Molson.’
David Simmonds
Senior Adviser, Canadian Centre for the Purpose of the Corporation
David Simmonds is a Senior Adviser at the Canadian Centre for the Purpose of the Corporation and 2020-21 Visiting Professor at Western University. He brings deep experience with reputation, brand strategy, financial communications and corporate affairs across regulatory environments with advisory experience to senior leaders in a variety of sectors.
Most recently, David was Senior Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs for McKesson Canada. A member of the company’s executive leadership team, David was responsible for internal communications, external affairs, media relations, government relations, corporate and event marketing, corporate social responsibility and strategic partnerships for McKesson’s business units in Canada.
Prior to leading Communications and Public Affairs, David served as Vice President Enterprise Strategy and Chief of Staff to McKesson Corporation’s Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. In this role he led a team responsible for designing the company’s multi-year growth strategy across Canadian, U.S., and European operations. David possesses deep experience with reputation, brand strategy, financial communications and corporate affairs across regulatory environments with advisory experience to senior leaders in a variety of sectors.
David is Past President of Alumni Western – Western University’s global alumni network; a member of Western University’s Board of Governors; Director and President Elect of Canadian Club Toronto; and, an Advisory Board Member of Catalyst Canada. He is also a member of the Canadian Centre for the Purpose of the Corporation’s expert panel. His earlier board work includes six years with Casey House, Canada’s leading HIV Specialty Hospital and the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
A graduate of Western University, David holds an Honours BA, MA, and completed the executive development program at the Wharton School.
A sought-after speaker his commentary can be found in national media including the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, and CBC News. In 2015 the Diversity Advancement Network named David one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Canadians.
Bruce Sellery
CEO, Credit Canada Debt Solutions and Personal Finance Journalist
Bruce Sellery is a personal finance expert and the author of the Globe & Mail bestseller, Moolala: Why smart people do dumb things with money (and what you can do about it).
He is the Money columnist for CBC Radio and the national lifestyle TV show Cityline, and hosts Moolala: Money Made Simple, a weekly radio show on SiriusXM. Bruce was the host of Million Dollar Neighbourhood on the Oprah Winfrey Network and spent a decade as an anchor and New York Bureau Chief for BNN Bloomberg.
Bruce is a graduate of the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and sits on the school’s Advisory Board. He is also an alumnus of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference.
