Fire Prevention Week, Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!
Toronto, ON – October 10, 2017
Fire Prevention Week runs from October 8-14, 2017. This year’s theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”
Smoke and fire spread fast. There’s no time to figure out how to escape AFTER a fire starts. That’s why it is so important that everyone has working smoke alarms in their home and that they practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in their household BEFORE there’s a fire.
Fire departments are encouraged to use the following resources to help raise public awareness of the importance of developing and practicing a home fire escape plan.
Lesson Plans:
Use the Fire Prevention Week lesson plans and resources below in local elementary schools and at community events to teach kids about smoke alarms and home fire escape planning. The lesson plans can be delivered by fire crews and/or public educators. Contact local elementary schools and ask if you can come into classrooms to deliver the short lessons throughout October.
