TORONTO, March 8, 2016 – The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is pleased to announce that 50 CANADIAN SCREEN AWARDS and three Academy Special Awards were presented tonight in News & Sports, Documentary, Lifestyle, Reality & Digital Media categories. This Canadian Screen Awards Gala was hosted tonight by comedian Seán Cullen at the Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto.
“To the people who chronicle our daily lives through reality tv, news, sports and documentaries, bravo,” says Academy CEO Helga Stephenson. “To the digital creators, thank you for taking us into the new world and congratulations to all of you.”
Red Carpet Highlights
Three previously announced Academy Special Awards were presented tonight to:
- Canada in Perspective for the Diversity Award
- Mark Starowicz for the Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism
- Much Music Video Awards – Router-Based Production Audio Design for the Outstanding Technical Achievement Award
